I am not a hero, in fact when I do something "nice" or something that is my "duty", I usually do it because I have no choice. Several weeks ago I took my neighbor to the emergency room - He came over and I called his health nurse. I had Jacob escort him back home. He came over again - this time I took a closer look. This man needed more help than I could give. I called 911 and had emergency crews here in a few minutes. Well, he refused treatment. What is this man thinking? The paramedic said he needed to be seen, but the ride in the ambulance would only be a expensive taxi ride. This man had been to my house borrowing money to buy cigarettes and beer. (He told me he needed milk for his grandson.) There were numerous times he made me uncomfortable. So, the night of the 911 call I wondered if I was out of my mind? Here I was taking him to the emergency room. He was so grateful. It kinda made my heart melt. He was admitted with pneumonia. Just this past weekend, I saw the ambulance there again. I spoke with his son a few days later - He was sent home with a week to live. How glad I am that I took the time to be nice. Not a hero by any means, just nice. Love you K - You always inspire me.
